  back to classes

This course will cover the elements of fiction, non fiction, poetry and drama, spell and match words, work on how to proofread and correct grammar, practice writing skills and abstract thinking.

We work on grammar, vocabulary and writing in each of the quarters

Quarter 1:

We work with nonfiction and being able to make accurate judgments about the message. We work with giving our own opinions but also being able to support those opinions with evidence from the literature.

Quarter 2:

We work with fiction and becoming familiar with elements (such as plot, theme, conflict, etc.) we then move into understanding characterization their characters in the story. The students learn how to make inferences about the characters based on characterization.

Quarter 3:

We read the odyssey and Romeo and Juliet. We analyze relationships, Character, themes, and historical connection. we have projects for both of these.

Quarter 4:

We have a study of carious novels for all the elements previously learned. I expect students to analyze, make connections and give opinions on aspects of each story along with support for their analysis and opinions.
